Authorities are urging parents to educate their children about the dangers and legal repercussions of throwing water on moving vehicles. This warning follows growing concerns from motorists after a video surfaced online showing a bus driver affected by such actions.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu emphasized that splashing water can lead to serious accidents, resulting in injuries or even fatalities. “Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles,” he cautioned.

The police highlighted that individuals engaging in this behavior could face penalties under the Minor Offences Act of 1971 and the Crimes Act of 2009. Depending on the severity of the resulting injuries, charges could escalate as serious as murder.

ACPO Driu acknowledged that children often do not comprehend the severe implications of their actions, reinforcing the critical role parents play in educating their kids. He encouraged adults in communities to intervene and help relay this important message.

The police are committed to monitoring these incidents to ensure public safety. “Let’s continue to look out for one another,” said Driu, urging collective responsibility in safeguarding the community.

This message serves as an important reminder of how community involvement and responsible behavior can significantly contribute to the well-being of everyone. By fostering communication between parents, children, and the larger community, we can promote safer environments for all.
