Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has emphasized the vital role parents play in their children’s education, urging them to be actively involved in monitoring academic progress and supporting their path towards high school completion. Speaking during a ‘back to school’ church service at the Centenary Church in Suva, Radrodro expressed that parents are essential partners in their children’s educational journey.

During the service, students proudly donned their school uniforms alongside their parents, as church ministers offered prayers for a successful school year, underscoring the collective responsibility of families, educators, and communities in fostering a conducive learning environment.

Radrodro raised concerns about the persistent issue of school dropouts, stating that children require encouragement, stability, and care to thrive in their academic endeavors. He encouraged parents to motivate their children to pursue high school and aspire for greater achievements.

Reflecting on the educational results from the previous year, he acknowledged the Year 8 pass rates and has set ambitious goals for the current year, targeting a 97 percent pass rate for students across Years 8, 12, and 13.

Furthermore, Radrodro called for collaboration between families and school leaders to confront challenges like bullying, substance abuse, and other risks that students may face. He emphasized that education transcends mere attendance; it involves developing skills, nurturing character, and creating opportunities for a successful future. He concluded with a heartfelt reminder that faith should remain central to this educational journey, promoting a hopeful perspective on the collective efforts required to secure a bright future for the youth.
