Police are urging parents to educate their children about the dangers and legal consequences of splashing water on moving vehicles. This reminder follows recent complaints from several motorists since the start of the New Year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu highlighted a concerning social media video showing a bus driver who was affected by such reckless behavior. He emphasized that these actions can result in serious accidents, potentially causing injuries or even fatalities. “Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles,” ACPO Driu stated.

He indicated that individuals engaging in this behavior could face serious repercussions under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Act 1971 or Section 269 of the Crimes Act 2009 for Negligent Acts Causing Harm. The charge could escalate to Murder depending on the severity of the injuries suffered by the victims.

Driu pointed out that children might not fully grasp the serious implications of their actions and called on parents to inform their kids. He encouraged adults in community settings to also intervene and discourage such behavior. “Police officers are present and will continue to monitor these incidents. Let’s stay vigilant and work together to uphold everyone’s safety.”

This article serves as an important reminder of the community’s shared responsibility in ensuring public safety, especially regarding children’s understanding of responsible behavior. By addressing this issue proactively, families can foster a safer environment for everyone.
