PAP’s Dilemma: What’s Next for Lynda Tabuya?

Sila Balawa, the General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party, has announced that the party is currently assessing the situation of member and Member of Parliament Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from her cabinet position last week due to the online leak of an explicit video.

Following a two-hour discussion, the Party’s Executive Committee has initiated internal procedures to address the matter appropriately. A disciplinary committee has been appointed to conduct a comprehensive investigation within a 21-day timeframe, after which they will report their findings to party management.

Lynda Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her defense during this investigation. The six-member committee is committed to maintaining an independent process while ensuring integrity and confidentiality throughout the deliberations.

This approach demonstrates the party’s seriousness in addressing the issue while also allowing Tabuya a fair chance to defend herself, emphasizing the balance between accountability and justice.

Overall, the situation underscores the importance of due process and the potential for growth and learning within the party. As these proceedings unfold, it is a moment that could lead to clearer guidelines and more robust support systems for members facing personal challenges in the public sphere.
