Sila Balawa, the General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party, has announced that the party is currently engaged in internal procedures to assess the situation regarding Lynda Tabuya, a party member and Member of Parliament. Tabuya was removed from her cabinet position last week following the circulation of an explicit video of her online.

The Executive Committee of the party convened for an extended meeting lasting over two hours to deliberate on the matter and outline the subsequent actions to be taken. The disciplinary committee has been assigned the responsibility of carrying out a comprehensive investigation within a 21-day timeframe, after which they will present their findings to the party management.

Importantly, Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her side of the story to the committee as part of the process. The committee, consisting of six members, is committed to maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the investigation.

This situation underscores the importance of due process and fairness within political parties, even amid challenging circumstances. The outcome may provide an essential precedent for how similar cases are handled in the future, reinforcing the commitment to justice and transparency within the party framework.
