The General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party, Sila Balawa, has announced that the party is currently assessing the situation involving party member and Member of Parliament Lynda Tabuya. This evaluation follows her recent dismissal from the cabinet due to the revelation of an explicit video of her online.

In response to this incident, the Party’s Executive Committee convened for an extensive two-hour meeting to deliberate on the matter and outline future actions. A disciplinary committee has been established to carry out a comprehensive investigation, which is expected to be completed within 21 days. They will provide a report to the party management at the conclusion of their inquiries.

Lynda Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her case to the disciplinary committee, which comprises six members. This committee is committed to conducting the investigation independently, ensuring that both integrity and privacy are maintained throughout the process.

In light of the circumstances, this situation highlights the importance of accountability within political parties. It also underscores the balance between personal conduct and public service, suggesting that there may be potential for growth and learning for all parties involved.

This incident will encourage a broader conversation about the implications of personal actions on professional roles and may lead to improved guidelines and support systems for members of political parties.

Overall, the situation presents an opportunity for the People’s Alliance Party to reinforce its values and commitment to ethical conduct, fostering a culture of responsibility among its members.
