Panthers Set to Roar in Vodafone Cup Quarterfinals Against Titans

The Dee Cees Nadera Panthers are focusing on player development to help them secure rugby league contracts with international clubs. This was highlighted by Panthers manager Rodney Nair in an interview with SUNsports.

Nair stated, “We don’t hold on to our players once they find opportunities to play for overseas rugby league clubs.” He emphasized that this season features a revamped team.

This year has seen some challenges, as many of their players have a rugby union background, making it difficult for coach Vula Dakuitoga to unite and develop the players effectively. “Dakuitoga is regarded as one of the most successful rugby league coaches in Fiji,” Nair added.

Despite facing these challenges, the Panthers have earned a place in tomorrow’s Vodafone Cup national quarterfinals, where they will compete against the newcomers, the Waitaci Titans.

“Our goal is to perform to the best of our ability and reclaim our lost title. We have confidence in each other as we understand the intensity of the challenge ahead,” Nair noted. The players are optimistic about their chances against the Titans, set to take place at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Nair also mentioned that the coach trusts the players due to their positive attitude towards diet and training. He encouraged Nadera rugby league fans to come out and support the Panthers as they aim to make history in the Fiji National Rugby League Vodafone Cup.

Additionally, he revealed that four players have departed the squad to join the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Navy.
