Panthers Set to Roar Back in Vodafone Cup Clash!

The Dee Cees Nadera Panthers are focused on player development, aiming to help athletes secure contracts with overseas rugby league clubs. This was highlighted by Panthers manager Rodney Nair in an interview with SUNsports.

“We do not retain our players once they find opportunities or start playing for rugby league teams abroad,” Nair explained, noting that this season has introduced a new roster.

Nair mentioned that the team has had to re-strategize due to many players coming from a rugby union background, which posed challenges for their coach, Vula Dakuitoga. “It has been quite difficult for Dakuitoga to assemble the players and elevate their game to this level. He is one of the top rugby league coaches in Fiji,” Nair added.

Despite the hurdles, the Panthers have secured a place in the Vodafone Cup national quarterfinals, where they will compete against the Waitaci Titans. They aim to perform at their highest level and reclaim their former title, fully aware of the competitive atmosphere surrounding them.

Nair expressed optimism about the team’s chances against the Titans at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. “The coach has faith in the players because they have shown a positive attitude towards their diet and training regimen,” he stated, encouraging Nadera rugby league fans to attend the game and support the Panthers as they seek to make history in the Fiji National Rugby League Vodafone Cup.

Additionally, Nair revealed that four players have left the club to join the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Navy.
