Panthers Aim to Roar Back in Vodafone Cup Showdown

The Dee Cees Nadera Panthers are dedicated to developing their players for rugby league opportunities abroad, according to manager Rodney Nair’s recent interview with SUNsports. Nair emphasized the team’s commitment to supporting players who secure contracts with overseas clubs, stating, “We don’t hold on to our players as soon as they find employment or play for a rugby league club overseas.”

This season marks a new chapter for the Panthers, as they have undergone a strategic overhaul due to the majority of their players primarily competing in rugby union. Nair acknowledged the challenges faced in bringing the team together under the guidance of coach Vula Dakuitoga, whom he described as one of Fiji’s most successful rugby league coaches.

Despite these hurdles, the Panthers have advanced to the Vodafone Cup national quarterfinals, where they will take on the newcomers, Waitaci Titans. Nair expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and their determination to reclaim their previous title. He stated, “Our aim is to play to the best of our ability and try to get back our lost title.”

Nair noted that the players have shown a positive attitude towards training and nutrition, which has built the coach’s confidence in them. He encouraged fans of Nadera rugby league to come out and support the Panthers as they aim to make history in the Fiji National Rugby League Vodafone Cup. Additionally, Nair mentioned that four players have left the club to join the Fiji Police Force and Fiji Navy.
