The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Deputy Secretary General Esala Nayasi held a significant meeting on Wednesday with Palau’s Minister of State Gustav Aitaro and members of the National Planning Committee. The focus of the discussion was on the preparations for the upcoming 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (55PIFLM), scheduled to take place in Koror from August 30 to September 4, 2026.

During the meeting, key topics included advancing the planning process for the Leaders Meeting and outlining Palau’s priorities under the event’s theme, “BELAU – Building Economies: Life. Action. Unity.” This theme indicates a strong emphasis on sustainable development and collaboration in fostering economic growth within the region.

The PIF Secretariat expressed its dedication to collaborating closely with the Palauan government to ensure the Leaders Meeting’s success, which aims to represent the unity and collective aspirations of the Blue Pacific. This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of both Palau and the PIF to create a platform for regional dialogue and cooperation, fostering a collective vision for the future of the Pacific Islands.

This upcoming event not only underscores the importance of regional solidarity but also strengthens the bonds between PIF member countries in addressing shared challenges and opportunities. The enthusiasm and strategic planning exhibited by both parties reflect a hopeful outlook for the success of the 55PIFLM, setting the stage for impactful discussions that can drive meaningful progress in the region.
