The staff from Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, and members of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club are inviting the community to participate in a significant event called Paddle for Cancer. This outrigger paddling fundraiser is held in memory of the late Christian Pesamino, a cherished member of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club who tragically lost his life to leukemia.
Christian was known for his passion for paddling and his vibrant spirit, which left a lasting impression on those who knew him. The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024, where participants will embark on a rigorous 29-kilometer journey from Castaway Island Resort to Vuda Marina.
Using V6 outrigger canoes, paddlers will navigate through the beautiful waters of the Mamanuca Island Group, honoring Christian’s memory while raising awareness and funds to combat leukemia and other cancers. Each paddle stroke will symbolize a commitment to support those currently fighting cancer.
All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Fiji Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to providing essential assistance to individuals and families impacted by cancer. The society is also actively involved in promoting cancer awareness, facilitating early detection, and providing vital resources for treatment across Fiji.
This initiative serves not only as a tribute to Christian Pesamino but also as a platform for community support for cancer patients and their families. Whether as a paddler, supporter, or donor, everyone’s participation will contribute to a meaningful cause.
