The staff from Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, and members of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club have united to host the Paddle for Cancer, an outrigger paddling fundraiser in memory of the late Christian Pesamino. Christian, a cherished member of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club, was an avid paddler whose life was tragically ended by leukemia. His passion for paddling and his vibrant personality left a profound impact on all who knew him.
This special fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024. Participants will embark on a challenging 29-kilometer paddle from Castaway Island Resort to Vuda Marina. Utilizing V6 outrigger canoes, paddlers will traverse the stunning waters of the Mamanuca Island Group, honoring Christian’s memory while increasing awareness for leukemia and other cancers. As participants navigate through the scenic waterways, each stroke symbolizes a commitment to supporting those who continue to fight cancer.
All proceeds from the event will be directed to the Fiji Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to providing critical assistance to individuals and families affected by cancer. The Society works diligently to enhance cancer awareness, encourage early detection, and offer vital resources for treatment across Fiji.
This event not only celebrates Christian Pesamino’s life but also provides a platform for the community to rally together in support of cancer patients and their families. Whether you choose to paddle, support, or donate, your involvement will significantly contribute to this important cause.
