The staff of Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, and paddlers from the Nadi Bay Canoe Club are hosting a significant and exciting event known as the Paddle for Cancer, an outrigger paddling fundraiser dedicated to the memory of the late Christian Pesamino.
Christian, a cherished member of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club, was a passionate paddler whose life was unfortunately cut short by leukemia. His love for paddling and vibrant personality left a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, 2024, where participants will embark on a challenging 29-kilometer journey from Castaway Island Resort to Vuda Marina. Using V6 outrigger canoes, paddlers will traverse the stunning waters of the Mamanuca Island Group, honoring Christian’s memory while raising awareness and funds to combat leukemia and other types of cancer.
Every stroke during the event symbolizes the commitment to supporting those fighting against cancer. All proceeds will go directly to the Fiji Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to offering essential assistance to individuals and families affected by cancer, promoting cancer awareness, facilitating early detection, and providing vital resources necessary for cancer treatment across the country.
This event serves as a tribute to Christian Pesamino while uniting the community in support of cancer patients and their families. Whether as paddlers, supporters, or donors, every contribution aids a noble cause.
