The staff from Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, and members of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club are organizing an impactful event called Paddle for Cancer, an outrigger paddling fundraiser dedicated to the memory of Christian Pesamino, who tragically lost his life to leukemia.
Christian was a cherished member of the Nadi Bay Canoe Club and was known for his passion for paddling and his vibrant presence, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. The Paddle for Cancer fundraiser is set to take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, featuring a demanding 29-kilometer paddling journey from Castaway Island Resort to Vuda Marina.
Participants will navigate through the stunning waters of the Mamanuca Island Group in V6 outrigger canoes, honoring Christian’s legacy while raising awareness for leukemia and other forms of cancer. Each stroke on this journey symbolizes a pledge to assist those currently fighting against cancer.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Fiji Cancer Society, which is committed to providing vital support to cancer-affected individuals and families, advocating for cancer awareness, early detection, and access to treatment resources throughout Fiji.
Not only does this event pay tribute to Christian Pesamino, but it also promotes community unity in the support of cancer patients and their families. Everyone, whether a paddler, supporter, or donor, can play a role in this significant cause.
