Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advocate for the Pacific as a “region of peace” during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting that will begin in Tonga tomorrow. He expressed this commitment while addressing the Fijian community in Tonga last night.
Rabuka noted that such forums often face scrutiny, with few focusing on the achievements made, as the outcomes of discussions may not be immediately noticeable. He emphasized that decisions and conversations with various leaders take time to bear fruit, highlighting the significance of these meetings for the nations and people in the region.
Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka engaged in a talanoa session with the diaspora and plans to bring up the challenges faced by the community at the PIFS meeting. The gathering, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will take place from Monday to Friday.
