Pacific Specialist Healthcare Unveils Innovative ICU in Fiji

Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega, Nadi, is enhancing healthcare innovation with the launch of a new three-bed Intensive Care Unit. This facility is designed to care for critically ill patients in the Western corridor’s private healthcare sector.

The unit will also serve tourists who may require multi-organ support, advanced intensive care, stabilization, and preparation for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at PSH Specialist Hospitals, stated that this service will complement the perioperative and surgical services offered by the hospital.

Additionally, the development includes important open-heart off-pump services. Recently, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital has also introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services for local communities in the Western corridor, extending assistance to hotels and outlying islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca regions.

PSH Specialist Hospital offers a range of services including emergency care, elective surgeries, perioperative anesthetic services, advanced diagnostic services, cardiovascular care, interventional cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, and soon-to-be-added ophthalmology and pediatric services.

Director Parvish Kumar expressed the hospital’s aspiration to excel in specialist tertiary and quaternary care, aiming to become the leading provider of patient-focused healthcare in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga noted that the hospital also provides specialist medical referral services for patients from other Pacific Islands, and the new Intensive Care Services will enhance medical retrieval services between these islands and PSH Specialist Hospital.
