Pacific Specialist Healthcare Unveils Cutting-Edge ICU for Critical Patient Care

Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi has launched a new three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to enhance healthcare innovation in the region. This facility is designed to serve critically ill patients in the private sector, particularly within the Western corridor.

The ICU will also assist tourists in need of multi-organ support and advanced intensive care, providing stabilization and preparing them for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at PSH Specialist Hospitals, noted that this service will complement the perioperative and surgical offerings of the hospital.

The establishment of intensive care services is crucial for open-heart off-pump procedures as well. In addition, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital has introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services to local communities in the Western corridor, extending this accessibility to hotels and remote islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.

The hospital offers a wide range of services, including emergency support, elective surgeries, perioperative anaesthetic services, advanced diagnostics, and cardiovascular intervention services. It is also set to introduce ophthalmology and pediatric services soon.

Director Parvish Kumar expressed the hospital’s commitment to expanding specialist tertiary and quaternary care, aiming to become the leading provider of patient-focused care in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga added that Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital provides specialist medical referral services to patients from the Pacific Islands, and the new Intensive Care Services will facilitate medical retrieval for those needing access to advanced specialist care.
