Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi is advancing healthcare innovation with the launch of its new three-bed Intensive Care Unit. This unit is designed to serve critically ill patients within the private healthcare sector in the Western corridor.
The facility also aims to provide essential multiorgan support and advanced intensive care for critically ill tourists, facilitating their stabilization and preparation for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at the hospital, highlighted that this service will enhance the perioperative and surgical offerings at PSH Specialist.
Additionally, the development of intensive care services is crucial for open heart surgery performed off pump. Over the last two weeks, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital has also introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services for local communities, covering hotels and surrounding islands in the Yasawa and Mamanucas regions.
The hospital provides a range of medical services, including emergency care, elective surgeries, anaesthetic services, advanced diagnostics, cardiovascular and intervention cardiology services, as well as obstetrics and gynecology. Ophthalmology and pediatric services are set to launch soon.
Director Parvish Kumar expressed the hospital’s ambition to push the boundaries of tertiary and quaternary specialist care to become the leading provider of patient-centered services in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga noted that the hospital also offers specialist medical referral services for patients from Pacific Islands. The new intensive care services will enable medical retrieval for these island patients, allowing access to high-level specialist care at PSH Specialist Hospital.
