Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi has launched a new three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), marking a significant advancement in healthcare innovation. This new facility is designed to serve critically ill patients in the private sector within the Western corridor, including tourists who need multi-organ support and advanced intensive care, stabilization, and preparation for medical repatriation back to their home countries.
Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and consultant anaesthesiologist at the hospital, stated that this service will also complement the perioperative and surgical services offered by PSH Specialist Hospital. The establishment of the intensive care unit is essential for providing open-heart surgery services without the use of a pump.
In addition, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital recently announced the availability of 24-hour General Practitioner services to local communities in the Western corridor, extending support to tourists in hotels and those on remote islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca regions.
The hospital offers a range of services including emergency support, elective surgical services, perioperative anaesthesia, advanced diagnostics, cardiovascular care, interventional cardiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, with plans to soon introduce ophthalmology and paediatric services.
Director Parvish Kumar emphasized the hospital’s commitment to enhancing specialist tertiary and quaternary care, with the goal of becoming the leading provider of patient-focused care in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga added that the intensive care services will facilitate medical retrieval for patients from Pacific Island nations, allowing them to access high-level specialist care at the PSH Specialist Hospital.
