Pacific Prime Minister Advocates for Ocean of Peace at Forum

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka plans to advocate for the Pacific to be recognized as an ocean of peace at the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Tonga, starting tomorrow. He shared this message during a gathering with the Fijian diaspora in Tonga last night.

Rabuka acknowledged that these meetings often receive critical scrutiny, with few highlighting the actual achievements made. He pointed out that the outcomes of such meetings are not always immediately evident.

He emphasized the significance of these discussions, noting that decisions made and conversations held with various leaders take time to yield results that directly impact regional nations and communities.

Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka engaged in a talanoa session with members of the diaspora and plans to address their concerns at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat meeting. The meeting, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will continue from Monday through Friday.
