Pacific Polytech’s Graduation: Transforming Lives and Bridging Skills Gap in Fiji

A total of 1,991 students have graduated from Pacific Polytech since its establishment, completing various micro qualifications. Among these, 817 have earned certificate level 3 qualifications, while over 300 students participated in industrial short courses and workshops. This educational initiative aims to bridge the skills gap in Fiji and has been particularly beneficial for local employment, especially among the youth.

During a graduation ceremony officiated by Minister for Defence Pio Tikoduadua in Labasa, he announced that more than 1,500 students are already enrolled for the 2025 class. He emphasized the transformative power of education by stating, “These figures are more than just statistics. They represent lives transformed, families uplifted, and communities empowered.” The graduates have found opportunities in various sectors, including hospitality, tourism, business, trade, and ICT, highlighting the importance of hands-on technical education as a pathway to employment and economic growth.

Looking ahead, Pacific Polytech has set an ambitious target to train an additional 2,000 students in certificate-level 3 programs in 2025 and expects over 4,000 graduates in technical skills over the next two years. The institution continues to collaborate with various stakeholders, including government ministries and industry partners, to enhance its technical education and training programs.

Notably, the recent graduation also witnessed a significant number of female graduates receiving certificates in plumbing, marking a positive step towards diversifying participation in traditionally male-dominated fields.

This achievement not only emphasizes the role of Pacific Polytech in shaping the future workforce of Fiji but also signals hope for ongoing empowerment and development within the community. The commitment to fostering skilled professionals aims to build a brighter future for both the graduates and the society at large, demonstrating that investment in education leads to comprehensive benefits for individuals and the broader economy.
