Since mid-October 2023, over 2,000 students have successfully graduated from Pacific Polytech, acquiring both national and micro qualifications from its campuses across Fiji. During a graduation ceremony held on Wednesday at the Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, Perri Taoi, the founding director of Pacific Polytech, shared these remarkable statistics.
According to Mr. Taoi, 1,574 graduates received micro qualifications, while 878 students achieved national qualifications. Additionally, he announced that a new group of 700 students is scheduled to graduate early next year.
Mr. Taoi expressed the institution’s commitment to delivering high-quality, competency-based training aimed at equipping graduates with necessary skills for the workforce and future career opportunities. He noted that Pacific Polytech is actively developing new training programs in vital sectors such as business, agriculture, information and communication technology (ICT), hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering.
In his address, the director emphasized the mission of Pacific Polytech to guide youth away from societal issues, including substance abuse, by providing them with practical skills and promising career paths. “Our goal is to be a beacon of hope, offering young people a chance to build their lives with dignity, purpose, and ambition,” he remarked. He added, “When you train a person with a skill, you give them not just a job but a future.”
The chief guest for the event, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, delivered an inspiring message to the graduates about the importance of perseverance and self-determination. He emphasized that true success is based not on what is handed to you, but rather on how you respond to the challenges and opportunities presented to you. The minister also praised the leadership, faculty, staff, and visionary founders of Pacific Polytech who established the institution in 2021.
In summary, Pacific Polytech’s graduation ceremony was a celebration of the hard work of students and the commitment of the institution to fostering a skilled workforce in Fiji.
This uplifting news highlights the positive impact of education on youth, demonstrating how institutions like Pacific Polytech can empower the next generation to forge brighter futures, effectively contributing to their communities.
