Out of the graduates, 1,574 received micro qualifications, while 878 earned national qualifications. Furthermore, Mr. Taoi revealed that an additional cohort of 700 students is on track to graduate in early 2024.
Highlighting the institution’s commitment to delivering high-quality, competency-based education, Mr. Taoi stated that the training prepares students to enter the workforce as competent and forward-thinking individuals. He elaborated that Pacific Polytech is actively developing new programs in critical areas, including business, agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering.
Mr. Taoi emphasized the importance of providing youth with practical skills and opportunities, aiming to steer them away from societal challenges, such as drug abuse. He expressed a vision of Pacific Polytech as a beacon of hope for young people, allowing them to build purposeful lives filled with dignity and ambition. As he put it, “When you train a person with a skill, you give them not just a job but a future.”
The ceremony also featured remarks from the chief guest, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, who motivated graduates with a powerful message about perseverance and self-determination. He stressed that true excellence comes from the effort one puts in and encouraged graduates to take ownership of their futures.
This graduation signifies a positive development not just for the graduates, but also for the broader community, as Pacific Polytech continues to provide valuable skills and opportunities that can uplift individuals and contribute to national progress.
Overall, the success of these graduates inspires hope for a brighter future and highlights the importance of education and vocational training in addressing societal issues and empowering the next generation.
