On October 16, 2023, Pacific Polytech celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of over 2,000 students across its campuses in Fiji, showcasing the institution’s commitment to education and skill development. The graduation ceremony held at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa saw the founding director, Perri Taoi, announce that out of the total graduates, 1,574 received micro qualifications while 878 achieved national qualifications. Looking ahead, Mr. Taoi shared that another cohort of 700 students is scheduled to graduate early next year.
Mr. Taoi underscored the institution’s dedication to providing high-quality, competency-based training designed to prepare students for the job market. He noted ongoing efforts to develop new programs in vital sectors such as business, agriculture, ICT, hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering. This initiative aims to equip graduates with practical skills that enable them to face societal challenges, including drug use, by providing them with meaningful opportunities.
He articulated the vision of Pacific Polytech as a beacon of hope that empowers young individuals to construct lives of dignity, purpose, and ambition. “When you train a person with a skill, you give them not just a job but a future,” said Mr. Taoi, highlighting the long-term impact of education on personal and professional development.
The ceremony featured a keynote address by Chief Guest, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, who motivated the graduates with a message focused on perseverance and self-determination. He emphasized that true success is determined not by circumstances, but by the actions one takes in response to them. He commended the leadership and faculty at Pacific Polytech, recognizing the visionaries behind the institution’s establishment in 2021.
