Since October 16, 2023, more than 2,000 students have successfully graduated from Pacific Polytech, receiving both national and micro qualifications across its campuses in Fiji.
At a ceremony held on Wednesday in Labasa’s Kshatriya Hall, Perri Taoi, the founding director of Pacific Polytech, shared these remarkable achievements. He noted that of the 2,000 graduates, 1,574 obtained micro qualifications while 878 earned national qualifications. Furthermore, Taoi announced that an additional cohort of 700 students is scheduled to graduate early next year.
Emphasizing the institution’s commitment to quality, Taoi highlighted the importance of competency-based training in preparing students for the job market and future challenges. He remarked, “We are actively developing new programs in critical sectors such as business, agriculture, ICT, hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering.”
Taoi further stressed Pacific Polytech’s mission to guide youth away from societal issues, including substance abuse, by providing them with practical skills and worthwhile opportunities. He stated, “Our goal is to be a beacon of hope, offering young people a chance to build their lives with dignity, purpose, and ambition. When you train a person with a skill, you give them not just a job but a future.”
The chief guest, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, inspired the graduates with messages of resilience and self-determination, stating, “True excellence only comes with perseverance.” He reminded the graduates that their success is determined not by external circumstances but by how they respond to them.
Turaga also praised the leadership, faculty, and staff of the institution, acknowledging the visionary founders who established Pacific Polytech in 2021.
This graduation event showcases a promising future for the students and reflects the institution’s dedication to nurturing skilled professionals in Fiji. It highlights the importance of education as a tool for empowerment and community development, creating a hopeful outlook for the youth as they transition into the workforce.
Overall, the achievements of Pacific Polytech send a powerful message about the potential for positive change through education, equipping students not only with qualifications but with the skills necessary to navigate their futures successfully.
