Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is currently visiting New Caledonia for a high-level mission that will last three days. This mission, which takes place from October 27 to 29, is led by Hu’akavameiliku Siaosi Sovaleni, Prime Minister of Tonga and Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum.

The gathering includes leaders from various Pacific nations, including Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown and Solomon Islands Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister Peter-Shanel Agovaka.

The mission was authorized following discussions during the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum held in Tonga. The purpose of the visit is to observe the situation in New Caledonia, as requested by its government.

“We are here to respectfully observe and engage under agreed Terms of Reference, as endorsed by the French State, the Government of New Caledonia, and the Forum,” Rabuka stated.
