Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advocate for the idea of the Pacific as an ocean of peace during the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, which will begin in Tonga tomorrow. He made this announcement while addressing the Fijian community in Tonga last night.
Rabuka pointed out that these meetings often come under examination, with few acknowledging their achievements, primarily because the outcomes of such visits take time to become apparent. He noted that the agreements reached and discussions held with other leaders require a period of time before they can be fully realized.
He emphasized the significance of these meetings, stating that they impact the nations and peoples of the region. Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka engaged in a talanoa session with the diaspora and plans to bring forward issues that the community is facing during the Pacific Islands Forum Summit.
The meeting, with the theme “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” is scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday.
