Pacific Leaders Gather to Forge a Vision of Peace in Tonga

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advocate for the Pacific to be recognized as a region of peace during the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Tonga, beginning tomorrow. He expressed this commitment while addressing the Fijian community in Tonga last night.

Rabuka remarked that these meetings often undergo intense scrutiny, with few comments focusing on their accomplishments, as the outcomes of such visits take time to become evident. He emphasized the importance of the discussions and decisions made, noting their long-term impact on both the nations and the people of the Pacific region.

Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka engaged in a talanoa session with the diaspora and plans to bring forward the challenges faced by the community in the upcoming PIFS meeting. The forum, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will take place from Monday to Friday.
