Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) has proudly inaugurated its Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) services, marking a significant advancement in the treatment of chronic wounds, burns, decompression sickness, and diabetic foot ulcers.
The launch event took place in Nadi and was spearheaded by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad. He underscored the importance of this initiative amidst Fiji’s concerning rates of diabetes, which have led to a dire statistic of one amputation occurring every 12 hours in the country. “The introduction of HBOT is a pivotal move toward enhancing health outcomes and mitigating the necessity for amputations,” stated Professor Prasad.
The Hyperbaric Chamber facility will be operational around the clock, designed to expedite recovery processes and improve patient outcomes. This new service not only serves the Fijian population but also aims to attract patients from neighboring Pacific Island nations, reinforcing Fiji’s role as a healthcare leader in the region.
Professor Prasad further emphasized the commitment of the Fijian government to bolstering healthcare infrastructure, which includes ongoing projects such as a 100-bed super-specialty hospital funded by the Indian Government and improvements at the CWM Hospital. “Healthcare is a central pillar of our development agenda,” he highlighted.
Moreover, during the event, the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) Loyalty Program was launched, offering healthcare discounts to active cane growers. This initiative aims to ensure that farmers have more accessible healthcare options, demonstrating a concerted effort to support rural communities.
With the introduction of HBOT and the SCGF Loyalty Program, PSH is solidifying its status as a healthcare innovator, not only providing access to state-of-the-art treatments but also prioritizing the health and well-being of Fiji’s citizens.
Overall, this new development introduces hope for improved health outcomes in Fiji, potentially reducing the burden of chronic illnesses and fostering a healthier future. By investing in advanced healthcare solutions, Fiji is setting a positive trend that could benefit the entire region.
