The 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting commenced this morning at the Tonga High School Indoor Stadium.

During the opening ceremony, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” performances were given by the Queen Salote College band and the Combined Secondary School Choir.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka of Fiji was among the leaders from various Pacific Islands attending the event.

Later today, PM Rabuka is scheduled for one-on-one discussions with Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister James Marape and Tongan Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku.

In the evening, he will participate in a welcoming reception at the Tonga High School Indoor Stadium following the Pacific ACP Leaders conference.
