Pacific Energy has made a significant contribution to the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens tournament, donating a total of $20,000 comprising $15,000 in cash and $5,000 worth of fuel. The announcement was made by Chief Marketing Officer Amit Maharaj, who highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots rugby development in Fiji. This sponsorship marks the second consecutive year that Pacific Energy has backed the Under-18 Future Superstars Division.

Maharaj stated, “This year is our 15th anniversary and 13 years as a partner of this tournament. We are deeply dedicated to promoting grassroots growth and the development of emerging talents in Fiji, as we recognize the importance of creating opportunities.” He emphasized that the Marist Sevens serves as the ideal platform to demonstrate Pacific Energy’s dedication to local communities.

This year’s tournament will feature a revamped format, accommodating 52 men’s teams—an increase of four from the previous year. Tournament organizers have introduced a new rule to ensure every match ends with a winner, even if it requires a golden point to be determined, making the competition even more intense.

Ticket prices for the event were also unveiled, offering a three-day package for just $22 if purchased online, a first for the tournament. Individuals who opt to buy tickets at the venue will face prices ranging from $10 to $25, depending on the day.

Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram acknowledged the invaluable support of Pacific Energy, noting that all divisions are now sold out, with only two slots remaining in the U18 girls category.

The upcoming Marist Sevens tournament is not just about rugby; it represents a commitment to community engagement and grassroots development. The event is set to take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from March 27 to 29, promising an exhilarating showcase of talent and community spirit in action.

Overall, the Marist Sevens continue to provide a platform not only for competition but also for cultivating the next generation of potential rugby stars, fostering inclusivity, and strengthening community ties across Fiji.
