Business Assistance Fiji has launched its inaugural Pacific Agri-Innovative Workshop and Pitching event in Suva. Supported by the European Union, this initiative aims to transform the agri-food system by promoting innovation and enhancing domestic agricultural production. Over the course of two days, 11 local agricultural entrepreneurs will present their businesses and products, highlighting their unique skills and offerings.
Mosheen Khan, National Project Coordinator for UNFAO, emphasized the initiative’s focus on bolstering local agriculture in the Pacific region. He stated that the program seeks to enhance domestic agricultural production and consumption through a resilient and sustainable transformation of the agri-food system.
Among the participants is Beatrice Nast, the owner of Mesovu or Goat Milk Soap Pte Limited, who expressed enthusiasm for introducing her groundbreaking product. She believes her innovation can create an entirely new sector within the agriculture industry.
Avishay Singh, a 27-year-old director at Shahil’s Party Ice and Frozen Supplies, encouraged Fijian youth to utilize the abundant land resources at their disposal, which contributed to his success. Singh was the recipient of the NSME Award in 2022 and urged young people to harness their potential.
Participants will pitch their products and business concepts during this event, which concludes tomorrow. They are vying for a position in an Agri-Business incubator set to take place in Nadi on November 6th.
