The journey from a background in science to the fields of accounting and economics has proven to be a significant challenge for 21-year-old Sanskar Kapadia. However, his hard work and perseverance culminated in success when he was awarded the Most Outstanding Accounting and Finance Student at the University of Fiji’s School of Business and Economics awards ceremony in Lautoka last week.

Kapadia shared his struggles in adapting to new concepts, expressing that the transition was far from easy. Thanks to the unwavering support from his lecturers and his dedication to consistent study, he gradually gained confidence in his new field. He also faced the challenge of juggling academic responsibilities with part-time work, which taught him valuable lessons in resilience and adaptability. “I stayed organized, set clear priorities, and worked part-time after classes, making the most of my time,” he explained.

Kamal Prasad, another award recipient, reflected on overcoming her own hurdles during her academic journey. Motivated by her mother’s encouraging words about striving for success, Prasad faced financial difficulties, especially regarding transportation costs. Yet with the support of her father and friends, she was able to navigate these challenges and thrive.

Fatima Aiyesha Siddeqa, who graduated as the dux of Nadi Muslim College in 2021, cited the sacrifices of her mother and grandmother as her primary source of motivation. She emphasized that success is not just about personal achievements but also about leaving a lasting impact. As the eldest daughter, Siddeqa strives to make her family proud, drawing strength and inspiration from her aunt, who has played a pivotal role in her academic journey.

These stories highlight the power of determination, support, and resilience in the pursuit of success. Each individual’s journey serves as a testament to the belief that with hard work and a strong support system, overcoming obstacles is entirely attainable. Such examples are not just inspirational but also serve to remind others that they, too, can forge their paths despite the challenges they face.

In summary, the awards ceremony at the University of Fiji showcased remarkable stories of perseverance among young achievers. Kapadia, Prasad, and Siddeqa exemplify how personal determination and strong familial support can lead to significant academic accomplishments, inspiring others to pursue their dreams against all odds.
