A remarkable story of perseverance and faith emerged from the Pacific Polytech graduation ceremony held at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, where Qenika Ravula defied the odds to graduate with a National Certificate in Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three. Overcoming the challenges posed by kyphosis, a spinal disorder he has battled for over a decade, Mr. Ravula drew strength from his faith and the encouragement of his family.
Tears of joy flowed as the 20-year-old received his certificate from the Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga. As the fourth of seven children from Vuinaqalutu Village, Macuata, Mr. Ravula expressed his gratitude, highlighting how the support of his mother and family propelled him through tough times. While his family depends on social welfare assistance and engages in farming to sustain their livelihoods, Mr. Ravula remained steadfast in his pursuit of education.
After completing Year 12 at Ahmadiyya Muslim College, he enrolled at the Naleba Youth Training Centre, where he discovered an opportunity to study under the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme. Mr. Ravula’s journey is not just a personal triumph; it shines a light on the importance of resilience and hard work.
In a heartfelt message to youth, Mr. Ravula emphasized the significance of faith and hard choices over negative influences. “God has a plan for everyone. We need to work hard; if I can do this, anyone can achieve similar success,” he stated.
Mr. Ravula’s inspiring story serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating that determination, faith, and support can help overcome even the greatest challenges. His journey encourages others to believe in their potential and strive for their dreams.
