Since October 16, 2023, Pacific Polytech has celebrated the graduation of over 2,000 students who earned both national and micro qualifications across its campuses in Fiji. The milestone was shared during a graduation ceremony held on Wednesday at the Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, where the institution’s founding director, Perri Taoi, detailed these remarkable achievements.
Of the graduates, 1,574 received micro qualifications, and 878 earned national qualifications. Mr. Taoi also announced that another group of 700 students is scheduled to graduate early next year, highlighting the institution’s ongoing commitment to education.
Mr. Taoi emphasized Pacific Polytech’s mission of providing high-quality, competency-based training designed to prepare graduates for the workforce. The institution is developing new programs in essential sectors, including business, agriculture, ICT, hospitality, life skills, healthcare, and engineering.
The director pointed out the school’s role in steering youth away from societal issues such as drug abuse by equipping them with practical skills and meaningful opportunities. “Our goal is to be a beacon of hope, offering young people a chance to build their lives with dignity, purpose, and ambition,” he noted, reinforcing the idea that skill training imparts not only immediate job prospects but also promising futures.
In a message of encouragement, the chief guest, Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, motivated the graduates to embrace perseverance and self-determination. He emphasized that success is determined by individual efforts rather than circumstances, praising the leadership and staff of Pacific Polytech and acknowledging the visionaries who established the institution in 2021.
This positive development at Pacific Polytech serves as an inspiring example of investment in education and skill development, potentially transforming lives and supporting youth in their pursuit of a brighter future.
