Authorities have confiscated over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana following two successful raids in the Malua range of Navosa. The operations were carried out by officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID), who acted on credible information regarding alleged marijuana cultivation in the area.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted the importance of these seizures in the broader efforts to disrupt the supply chain of illegal drugs. He noted that recent weeks have seen a number of arrests made in connection to the cultivation and distribution of marijuana, with suspects charged and presented in court. Driu praised the effective communication and information sharing that enabled these discoveries and previous arrests.
During the raids, law enforcement located a staggering 1,800 plants at one site, while another farm yielded more than 900 plants, all ranging in height from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters.
This crackdown reflects a determined response to drug-related activities in the region, signaling a commitment to ensuring community safety and addressing the challenges posed by illegal drug trade. The continuous efforts of the police and community members partnering together can provide hope for a drug-free environment in the future.
