Adi Cakobau School (ACS) and Suva Grammar School (SGS) were declared joint champions in the Under-19 girls’ category at the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship held in Lautoka yesterday. The final match was interrupted for 20 minutes in the final quarter due to heavy rainfall, which rendered the court slippery and unsafe for play. At the time of the interruption, ACS was ahead with a score of 21-18 and seven minutes left on the clock. After evaluating the conditions and considering the safety of the players, the organizers made the decision to name both teams as winners.
In the boys’ division, Marist Brothers High School triumphed, winning the Under-19 boys’ title by defeating Yat Sen Secondary School with a close score of 28-24 in the final match, bringing the trophy to Kaunikuila.
