In 2025, Osea Kolinisau, the renowned Fijian 7s player and newly re-appointed Fiji Sevens coach, will be honored in the RugbyTown Walk of Fame. Kolinisau, known for his significant contributions to rugby, will join a prestigious group of rugby legends such as David Campese, Waisale Serevi, Jonah Lomu, Ben Gollings, and others.
His outstanding career is highlighted by historic milestones in the 7s format. As the first Fijian captain to guide his team to a Gold Medal at the Rio Olympics, Kolinisau’s leadership and talent have set a remarkable standard for Fijian rugby. His achievements continued with consecutive HSBC World Series titles, solidifying his position as a true sports icon.
The RugbyTown Walk of Fame recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to rugby, and Kolinisau’s induction serves as a reflection of his excellence and influence in the sport. The ceremony is scheduled for January 2025.
Additionally, the RugbyTown Walk of Fame plans to reveal its second tournament ambassador and overseas inductee soon, enhancing the roster of rugby legends being honored this year. Jay Whyte, the founding chairman of the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s, expressed excitement for Kolinisau’s induction, stating, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Osea Kolinisau and look forward to his well-deserved induction into the RugbyTown Walk of Fame.”
The tournament will take place from January 16-18, 2025, at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park.
