Opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Viliame Naupoto has stepped down from his role as Opposition whip in Parliament.
This was confirmed by Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at the beginning of the session yesterday morning.
Mr. Naupoto, who recently transitioned to an independent MP, has declared his support for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for the remainder of the parliamentary term.
The Speaker of Parliament announced that Independent Opposition MP Jone Usamate will act in the position until a permanent appointment is made.
