Opposition MPs Set for Key Ministerial Roles in Historic Swearing-In

Seven Members of Parliament from the opposition’s Group of 9 are poised to be officially sworn in as Ministers today in a significant political transition. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 11 AM at the State House.

The group’s leader, Ioane Naivalurua, a former Police Commissioner, is anticipated to take charge of the Minister for Police portfolio. Other key appointments include Viliame Naupoto for the Immigration role and Mosese Bulitavu for the Climate Change portfolio. These important positions were previously held by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Four members will also step into important Assistant Minister roles, with Aliki Bia expected to become the Assistant Minister for Information, Penioni Ravunawa set to oversee Health, Ratu Josaia Niudamu appointed as the Assistant Minister for Justice, and Naisa Tuinaceva, former CEO of the Land Transport Authority, to serve as the Assistant Minister for Transport and Infrastructure.
