Opposition leader Inia Seruiratu has stated that they were not invited to the traditional ceremony held for the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. During a session in Parliament this morning, he pointed out that this marks the third occasion where the Opposition has not received invitations from the Government for significant international visits to Fiji.
Seruiratu emphasized, “This is to clarify that we didn’t boycott the ‘veiqaravi’ (traditional ceremony). We didn’t receive any formal invitation from Government, which has also happened with the Prime Ministers of New Zealand and Australia during their visits to Fiji.” He expressed concern and disappointment regarding this pattern, urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill their responsibilities.
