Operation Yavirau has intensified its actions against the illicit drug trade and related crimes, utilizing the capabilities of K9 units. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP-O) Livai Driu, recent snap checks and searches, supported by the Fiji Detector Dog Unit and the Police Dog Unit, have led to the seizure of both white and green drugs.

Over the past 48 hours, more than 10 individuals have been arrested and taken into custody. ACP Driu mentioned that, besides the teams dedicated to special operations, officers on routine duties are also conducting snap searches on individuals displaying suspicious behavior.

Arrests have been reported across various locations in Fiji, including Suva, Lakeba, Nanuku Settlement, Lami, Lautoka’s main city area, Nausori Highland Road, and Tukavesi. These successful arrests and seizures are attributed to the collaborative efforts of the FDDU, the Police Dog Unit, and effective information and intelligence gathering.
