Young people today are encountering escalating pressures from drug addiction, peer influence, and mental health issues, prompting urgent calls for comprehensive intervention strategies. Lands and Mineral Resources Minister Filimoni Vosarogo emphasized the challenges faced by families and communities at the recent International Youth Fellowship Fiji celebration, underscoring the necessity for structured youth programs.
Minister Vosarogo remarked, “These are not small achievements; a single change in one person can bring new hope to a family, uplift a community, and contribute to the transformation of our nation.” He highlighted the essential role that organizations play in assisting vulnerable youth to alter their mindsets and rebuild their lives.
Notably, Vosarogo shared inspiring stories of former drug-addicted youth who have successfully transitioned to professional roles and are now contributing positively to society. These examples serve as compelling evidence that with appropriate support, meaningful change is achievable.
The Minister stressed the importance of value-based programs in fostering resilience, discipline, and purpose among young individuals. Given the growing vulnerability among youth, such initiatives are crucial in creating a supportive environment that can lead to constructive life changes and community revitalization. The ongoing efforts to equip young people with the necessary tools for success are a promising step toward addressing these pressing challenges.
