Olympic Rugby Star Returns to Give Back to Fijian Youth

Raichelmiyo Bativakalolo, who served as a co-captain for Japan’s women’s sevens team during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, visited Fiji last week to support a primary school by donating training equipment for students.

Accompanied by her sister Ateca Bativakalolo, she presented rugby balls and other sports gear to the students of Jagindra Singh Primary School located in Tacirua, Nasinu.

The sisters, originally from Naicabecabe Village in Moturiki, Lomaiviti, expressed their joy in making this annual trip home, which also includes visiting family.

“We are very happy to be in Fiji because we came to help our Fijian brothers and sisters in the primary school, and rugby is Fiji’s game, so we thought of returning to give back to the community,” said Raichelmiyo.

Their father, Apisai Bativakalolo, praised his daughters as talented rugby players, noting he has coached them since their primary school days in Japan.
