Old Scholars Unite: A Day of Fun and Sports at ACS

Former students of Adi Cakobau School took part in an annual sports fun day held yesterday at the indoor court of Suva Grammar School. This festive event was part of the school’s birthday celebrations and featured women and girls of various ages divided into four teams, each representing their respective schoolhouses.

Ilisapeci Movono, the President of the ACS Old Girls Association, explained that the initiative aimed to foster camaraderie among former students. “This year we thought we’d have a sports day just to bring everybody together, give them a chance to meet each other, interact and showcase their talents,” Movono stated.

The day’s activities kicked off with a Zumba session at 7 a.m. Participants enjoyed games such as volleyball, a walking netball competition, tug of war, and various card games. The inclusion of games like trump and walking netball ensured that older players were also able to participate.

Movono mentioned that the old scholars could look forward to another sports day next year, emphasizing that the spirit of fun will continue. “For next year, we will plan the sports day for a time that is convenient for everyone. While we are uncertain about the specific plans, there will definitely be another event, and we are having fun.”

The day’s festivities concluded with a dinner for the old girls at the Paradiso Restaurant in Albert Park, Suva, later in the evening.
