OFC U-16 Women’s Championship: Who Will Claim the Path to Morocco?

The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship is set to begin tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, featuring eight teams from the Oceania region vying for two spots at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next year. This championship is particularly significant due to the recent expansion of the World Cup to 24 teams.

The tournament consists of two groups. Group A includes Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B features New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and Solomon Islands, all competing for top positions.

The format of the tournament leads to an exciting conclusion, with the winners of Group A going up against the runners-up of Group B, and vice versa, in the semi-finals set for September 18. The winners of these matches will not only secure their places at the World Cup but will also compete for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title in the final on September 21.
