The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship is set to begin tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Eight teams from the Oceania region will compete for two spots at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next year.

With the World Cup expanding to 24 teams, this championship is significant. The tournament is divided into two groups. Group A features Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B includes New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and Solomon Islands.

The format of the tournament culminates in an exciting finish, with the winners of Group A matched against the runners-up of Group B, and vice versa, in the semi-finals set for September 18. The winners will earn their spots at the World Cup and compete for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title in the final on September 21.
