OFC U-16 Women’s Championship: Quest for World Cup Spots Begins!

The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship is set to kick off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, featuring eight teams from the Oceania region competing for two spots at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next year. This championship is especially significant due to the expansion of the World Cup to 24 teams.

The tournament includes two groups. Group A consists of Fiji, Tonga, the Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B features New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and the Solomon Islands.

The competition format leads to a thrilling conclusion, with the winners of Group A facing the runners-up from Group B and vice versa in the semi-finals, which are scheduled for September 18. The winners of these semi-final matches will qualify for the World Cup and compete for the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship title in the final on September 21.
