OFC U-16 Women’s Championship: A Battle for World Cup Glory Begins!

The OFC U-16 Women’s Championship is set to kick off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, featuring eight teams from across the Oceania region vying for two spots at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next year. This championship is particularly significant following the World Cup’s expansion to include 24 teams.

The tournament is organized into two groups. Group A includes Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa, while Group B consists of New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, and Solomon Islands.

The championship culminates with a semi-final round on September 18, where the first-placed team from Group A will clash with the second-placed team from Group B, and vice versa. The winners of these matches will not only earn a spot at the World Cup but will also compete for the title of OFC U-16 Women’s Championship in the final scheduled for September 21.
