OFC Professional League: A New Era for Pacific Football Begins!

The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) has revealed exciting news regarding the upcoming OFC Professional League, which is slated to kick off in January 2026. An impressive 24 expressions of interest have been submitted by clubs keen to be part of this groundbreaking league, reflecting a strong dedication to professional football in the Pacific region.

Clubs from various countries, including New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Caledonia, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, and Vanuatu, have demonstrated their enthusiasm. Notably, six teams are from New Zealand, with four each from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Australia, along with other teams from New Caledonia and additional Pacific nations. The application process, which has already closed, will remain open until the end of June 2025 to accommodate further applications.

Stuart Larman, the OFC Professional League Manager, commended the clubs for their enthusiasm, stating, “Over the last few years, a lot of work has gone into structuring a professional league that will accelerate the growth of football across the region… the response shows so many clubs share our vision and passion to develop professional football across Oceania.”

Designed to enhance the competitive nature of football in the region, the league will host eight elite teams and is expected to run from January to May 2026. This initiative not only aims to elevate performance standards but also creates new opportunities for players and coaches in Oceania.
